We are a group of physicians and researchers who are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people and planet, planting seeds to empower our future. We were established as a working group with the Ontario chapter of Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment(CAPE-On). We call our selves the Agri-food Working Group.
Growing Sustainable Physicians (GSP) is an educational, capacity building, and community building program. We teach future healthcare providers and leaders about the climate crisis, the climate and health impacts of our food systems, in a format that offers didactic and applied learning opportunities. Our hope is that through this program we will build a community of practitioners and change-makers who together, will take action for planetary health.
The GSP program has 3 components, the Workshop, the QI Project and the Capstone Event. Thanks to grant funding from the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, this program is available to residents at no cost.

The Workshop
Join us and leaders in the field for discussions that explore the intersections of climate, agriculture, food and health. The workshop will include lectures, discussions, practice tips and tasty food, all in an immersive farm experience.
Eastern Workshop, Aug 24 2024 Furnace Falls Farm, Lyndhurst ON
Western Workshop, Sept 14 2024 Foodshare Farm, Toronto, ON
Important information: TBD
During your residency, you will complete a QI project with mentorship from your department. The GSP program is designed to complement your program’s mandatory QI/scholarly requirement. After the workshop, you will have the opportunity to receive support alongside your peers through drop-in monthly virtual sessions with our planetary health experts as you implement your project. Our goal is to discuss your QI projects, climate action, and related topics and build a network of like-minded practitioners.
